Modern lithium batteries are warranted for 10 years with 70%+ retained capacity. Real-world life is typically 12–15 years.
Will it power my whole house in an outage?
Depends on size — a Powerwall 3 will run essential loads (fridge, lights, Wi-Fi, comms) for 12–24 hours, and can be configured for whole-home backup.
